I feel like I know every single person in them.<br /><br />1. <em>Atlas Shrugged</em>, Ayn Rand.<br />This is the best book in the whole world. I read it at least once a year. The famous quote "Who is John <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Galt</span>?" is contained <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">therein</span>. This book is inspiring, makes you want to work hard and produce, and hate the "looters."<br /><br />2. <em>The Fountainhead, </em>Ayn Rand.<br />I married Jeff because he read this for me. Howard <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Roark</span> is an architect who refuses to yield. Will the world eat him alive?<br /><br />3. <em>Cat's Eye</em>, Margret Atwood.<br />No one in the world writes characters like Margret Atwood. And her use of words! So descriptive and visual. It was a toss up of which of her works is my all time favorite, but I re-read this the most, and identify more closely with the theme <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">and</span> the main character.<br /><br />4. <em>The Lord of the Rings</em> (trilogy, is that cheating?), J.R.R. <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">Tolkein</span>.<br />After all, my son's <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">nickname</span> will be <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">Samwise</span>...<br /><br />5. <em>A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, </em>Betty Smith<br />a beautiful coming of age story<br /><em></em><br /><em>6.<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">Microserfs</span>/ J.Pod</em>, Douglas <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">Coupland</span><br />How Do I adore thee, Douglas <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">Coupland</span>!! You are trenchant, ironic and wise. You encapsulate my generation and make witty, droll observations. You love products and spend a whole book quoting Smiths songs. You make geeks lovable and cool. All your books are awesome but these 2 are my favorite. Never stop!!<br /><br />7. <em>The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, </em>Carson <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10">McCullers</span><br />Another coming of age story, beautifully written<br /><br />8. <em>A Little Princess, </em>Frances <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11">Hodgson</span> Burnett<br />My all time favorite book when I was little.<br /><em></em><br />9.<em>Sleeping in Flame</em>, Jonathan <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_12">Caroll</span><br />Why is this guy not a cult icon? His books are fabulous, weird and beautiful. This was the first one I ever read and it has a special place in my heart.<br /><br />10. <em>The Stand, </em>Steven King<br />And why not? I love a good post-<span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_13">apocalyptic</span> tale, and this one has it all.
