I feel like I know every single person in them.

1. Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand.
This is the best book in the whole world. I read it at least once a year. The famous quote "Who is John Galt?" is contained therein. This book is inspiring, makes you want to work hard and produce, and hate the "looters."

2. The Fountainhead, Ayn Rand.
I married Jeff because he read this for me. Howard Roark is an architect who refuses to yield. Will the world eat him alive?

3. Cat's Eye, Margret Atwood.
No one in the world writes characters like Margret Atwood. And her use of words! So descriptive and visual. It was a toss up of which of her works is my all time favorite, but I re-read this the most, and identify more closely with the theme and the main character.

4. The Lord of the Rings (trilogy, is that cheating?), J.R.R. Tolkein.
After all, my son's nickname will be Samwise...

5. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Betty Smith
a beautiful coming of age story

6.Microserfs/ J.Pod, Douglas Coupland
How Do I adore thee, Douglas Coupland!! You are trenchant, ironic and wise. You encapsulate my generation and make witty, droll observations. You love products and spend a whole book quoting Smiths songs. You make geeks lovable and cool. All your books are awesome but these 2 are my favorite. Never stop!!

7. The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Carson McCullers
Another coming of age story, beautifully written

8. A Little Princess, Frances Hodgson Burnett
My all time favorite book when I was little.

9.Sleeping in Flame, Jonathan Caroll
Why is this guy not a cult icon? His books are fabulous, weird and beautiful. This was the first one I ever read and it has a special place in my heart.

10. The Stand, Steven King
And why not? I love a good post-apocalyptic tale, and this one has it all. I think ,though many will argue, that this is his best work.
